College Station, Texas Trio Qualifies for 2025 International Axe Throwing Championship Finals


COLLEGE STATION, TX — Local athletes Tony Luce, Adam Miller, and Jake Godfrey have officially qualified for the prestigious International Axe Throwing Championship (IATC), scheduled for June 11th through 15th, 2025, in Toronto, Canada. Representing The Cut Axe Throwing and Texas A&M University’s Aggie Blades student organization, these three axe throwers are set to compete among the world's top 256 axe throwers.

JAKE GODFREY
Hometown: Midlothian, TX

Jake Godfrey has been sharpening his skills for two years. Standing 6'1" and weighing 267 pounds, the Midlothian, Texas native balances his responsibilities as a student of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M University with is duties as a Coach at The Cut Axe Throwing and membership and leadership in the Aggie Blades.

"Qualifying for the IATC Final Round feels amazing," said Godfrey. "I've been working toward this chance for a while, so it's awesome to see my hard work pay off. Axe throwing has become a fun and meaningful aspect of my life, and being a part of The Cut community makes it even better."

Adam Miller
Hometown: Clearfield, PA

Joining Godfrey is fellow Aggie, Adam Miller, who co-founded Aggie Blades and serves as its President. Hailing from Clearfield, Pennsylvania, Miller towers at 6'7" and brings substantial presence to the throwing lanes.

Alongside his role as a student, he is also part owner and Crew Chief at The Cut Axe Throwing.

With characteristic directness, Miller simply stated, "It's about damn time."

Tony Luce
Hometown: College Station, TX

Anchoring the group is seasoned competitor Tony Luce, a veteran thrower with six years of competitive experience.

Luce, the founder and owner of The Cut Axe Throwing, is no stranger to international competition, having achieved podium finishes at multiple World Championships, including second place at the 2022 World Knife Throwing Championship and third place in Hatchet Duals at the 2022 World Axe Throwing Championships.

Luce, standing 6'0" and weighing 290 pounds, expressed immense pride in his teammates: "I couldn't be prouder of Jake and Adam and am excited about taking them to their first International Axe Throwing Championship. These guys have worked their butts off to learn the techniques and mindset necessary to be successful in this sport. They're smart, hard-working, and, most importantly, they exemplify what makes this sport great—community, fun, persistence, and focus. It's been a long journey getting to this point, and I'm excited to see what the future holds."
