Axe and knife throwing with free coaching, a full bar, and a room full of games. Walk-ins are welcome every night. The strip across from campus. Loud, young, packed on weekends, and the closest thing College Station has to a proper bar district. Best if you're under 25 or want to feel like you are.

Ten minutes north and a completely different night. Walkable, older crowd, actual cocktails. West End Elixir, Hershel's for bourbon, The 101 for an ice-house feel, and Blackwater Draw Brewing on Main. First Friday of every month the whole district opens up with live music at The Palace Theater.

Do something with your hands
The problem with dinner-and-a-movie is that it's two hours of not talking followed by an hour of nothing to talk about. Throwing axes, an escape room, or bowling all solve the same problem: they give you something to do that generates conversation instead of replacing it. Pick something where people can drift in and out. Anything that requires all twelve of you to sit down at once and stay seated will fall apart by the second hour. George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum
The best indoor afternoon in the county and it isn't close. Two to three hours, genuinely well built, and interesting even if you have no interest in the presidency.
Museum of the American GI
Restored military vehicles, many of them operational. Much better than it sounds from the name.
Escape rooms
Escape Room BCS or Padlock Escape Games. An hour, indoors, and the weather stops being a factor.
Bowling & arcade at Grand Station
The default indoor answer for a reason.
Axe throwing at The Cut
Entirely indoors, climate controlled, and open until midnight or 2 AM on weekends. If the plan you had outside just died, we're three minutes from Northgate with a big free parking lot.

Not exciting. Dry, open, and it exists.

Straight answer: we're a bar. Here's where we fit and where we don't.

Ages 10 and up — we work
Kids 10 and older can throw axes if they can safely handle a house axe (about 1.5 lbs). Ninja stars start at age 6 and are free. Under 6, they're welcome to play the board games and giant games while everyone else throws. We are not, however, a birthday party for six-year-olds — for that, go to Grand Station or an indoor play space.
Grand Station Entertainment
Bowling, arcade, laser tag. The default for younger kids and mixed-age families.
Wild Animal Safari Bryan
Drive-through safari park. You stay in your car and animals come to the window. Reliably a hit and it kills three hours.
Santa's Wonderland Seasonal
Enormous Christmas light park on the south side, open roughly mid-November through December. It's a College Station institution and worth the traffic once a year.

For the under-six crowd on a hot or rainy day.

The town triples in size. Plan accordingly.
Before the game
Century Square and Northgate both fill early. If you have a group and want a table, you are not getting one at noon on a home Saturday without a reservation made days earlier.
Kyle Field & Olsen Field
Football at Kyle Field, baseball at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. Reed Arena for basketball. If you can get tickets, the atmosphere is the actual attraction.
After the game
Northgate is a wall of people. Downtown Bryan is ten minutes away and half as crowded. We're open until midnight on Saturdays and we have parking, which on a game weekend is worth more than anything else on this page.

Carney's has the biggest outdoor screen in Bryan. Most Northgate bars will have it on, and so will we.

Founded by throwers who've competed on ESPN in the World Axe & Knife Throwing Championships. Statistically, throwing axes here is safer than bowling — in 2022 there were roughly 500 axe throwing venues in the US and five insurance claims between them. Nobody has ever been hurt at The Cut.
